A striking vintage Chinese-style ceremonial censer / incense burner, intricately molded and carved in high relief with dragon-form side handles, foo lion mask details, guardian figures, immortals, and layered geometric borders. The piece has a warm aged ivory-tone finish designed to resemble carved ivory or bone, with deep sculptural detailing throughout.
The censer is composed in a traditional two-part form, with a removable upper section featuring a continuous band of immortal figures. The lower body is decorated with raised figures, lion-mask ring handles, pierced openwork details, and dragon heads extending outward at each side. It sits on a fitted dark carved wood display stand, which gives the piece a more complete and elevated presentation than many comparable examples.
The underside and removable section both feature molded Chinese-style seal marks, similar to documented auction examples of this form. The material appears to be vintage resin / composite ivory.
Excellent decorative condition with strong detail, no losses, and a very impressive scale.
